Redeemer Covenant of Membership
Having before our eyes the glory of God and the advancement of the kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ, we do willingly consent to walk together, giving ourselves up to the Lord and to one another, by the will of God. We acknowledge Jesus Christ alone as the Savior and Head of the Church, which He purchased with His own blood and graciously governs by His Holy Word.
Therefore…
- We resolve and promise, by the grace of God, to be reformed to the greatest purity in doctrine, worship, and discipline, according to the Word of God.
- We resolve and promise to support the Church in its worship and work to the best of our abilities, submitting to its government and discipline, and exercising diligence to promote its peace and purity.
- We resolve and promise, as members one of another, to consider how we may stimulate one another to love and good deeds, to support each other, bearing with one another’s weaknesses, failings and temptations, exercising gentleness, compassion and patience with one another.
- We resolve and promise, in humble reliance upon the gracious workings of the Holy Spirit, that we will live as becomes followers of Christ, so that our lives may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in every respect.
- We make this covenant in the presence of Almighty God, the Searcher of all hearts, with a true intention to perform the same, most humbly entreating the Lord to strengthen us by His Holy Spirit for this end and to bless our desires and endeavors with such success as may bring glory to His Name, enlargement to His kingdom, and mutual edification of His people.
‘Now unto Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be the glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen’
– Ephesians 3:20-21, New King James
